While much has changed in the Irish legal system and Irish society since FLAC’s establishment in 1969, access to justice remains a critical challenge. There is a growing concern about access to justice and a growing consensus that major reform is required. The Chief Justice who has committed to making access to justice a focus of his tenure delivered the opening address. In his opening address, The Chief Justice discusses the importance of access to justice, the need for investment in the Irish courts system and the role played by FLAC over the past half-century.
