Alongside its work on the reform of debt laws and adequate state response to over-indebtedness, FLAC is also seeking consistent and fair standards for consumer lending and borrowing. This means there must be better legal and other protections for consumers of financial services in Ireland.
In this area, FLAC aims to monitor legal developments at home and abroad from the consumer perspective, developing recommendations for the protection of consumers in current and proposed consumer credit law, and seeking their implementation. Where possible, we will seek to carry out strategic casework that can realise the rights of consumers of financial services.
